Inmate Visitation Policies
Jail Facilities are:
- Cancelled until this saturday(09/20/2008) after that it will resume normal visitation hours. sorry!
- Monday through Friday: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM
- Inmates are only allowed one visit per day
- Attorneys may visit any jail location 24 hours a day, seven days a week

- No ministers visits will be allowed at any jail location from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM daily
- Visits to inmates at hospitals must be Pre-approved by personnel at the Medical Division, phone number 713.755.9205

Acceptable Forms of Dress (See Examples): The Harris County Sheriff’s Officeis charged with the responsibility of seeing tothe health, safety and well-being of those housedin our custodial facilities.
To address this importantresponsibility we must maintain order and decorum.Consequently, visitors to this facility must presentand maintain an appropriate style of dress, behavior and conduct in keeping with the needs of this institution.
Clothing, demeanor and/or actions, which may be acceptable somewhere else, are not necessarily acceptable in this environment. Here, we must consider those who are required to live here, first. Therefore, the following RULES OF DRESS FOR VISITORS, though not all inclusive, are posted for your information and guidance
The Following Items of Dress Are Not Permitted:
- Tube tops and halter tops
- Spaghetti strapped tops or dresses
- Tank Tops without a brassiere (women)
- Tank tops with large arm holes exposing the chest
- Clothing displaying gang affiliation
- Shirts/tops of a revealing nature
- Shorts above mid-thigh (14 years of age and above)
- Dresses/skirts above mid-thigh
- Dresses/skirts with a slit/split above mid-thigh
- Miniskirts
- All hats/ball caps will be worn with the brim to the front
- All visitors are required to wear shoes
- No clothing of a generally revealing nature such as:
- Net clothing
- Spandex pants without shorts
- Tights without shorts
- Any other item of clothing deemed by the staff to be contrary to the policy of modest dress.

Their Decisions Are Final!
- Visitors must have valid state or federal ID card or drivers license. All identification must contain bearers photograph.
- Children sixteen years old, or younger, do not need identification when a parent or legal guardian accompanies them.
- People seventeen years old, or older, must have proper identification to visit.
- Children may not be left unattended at any time while visiting
- No purses, bags, pocketknives, weapons, cellular phones, or recording devices of any kind are allowed.
- Only one car key is permitted in visitation area.
- No items may be left unattended in the lobby area.
- Only one visit allowed per inmate per day.
- A visit may consist of up to two adults and two children.
- An inmate must be in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office for at least twenty-four hours before they can receive their first visit.
- Proper, modest dress: No tank or tube tops.
- Shorts no shorter than the knees. Peddle pushers or capri pants are acceptable. No revealing, see- through or suggestive type clothing. No revealing, sleeveless tops. Skirts/dresses must be knee length or longer. No spandex or tights unless covered to the knees.
- No food, packages, mail, cigarettes, nor photographs may be left for any inmate.
