AFIS Process

The Receiving AFIS Deputy is responsible for capturing live scan fingerprints and a photograph of all prisoners being processed into the Harris County Jail. Through the AFIS process, the HCSO attempts to identify every prisoner by comparing their prints to the fingerprints stored in the AFIS database. The AFIS Deputy then ensures that the person in HCSO custody matches the person named in the arrest warrant or committing documentation.
