The Child Abuse Detail is an investigative detail within the Interpersonal Violence Unit of the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The Child Abuse Detail investigates physical abuse cases, family related sexual assault cases, and sexual assault cases involving children 15 years of age and younger.
The Child Abuse Detail is responsible for investigating the following types of cases:
- Internet Child Pornography
- Medical Neglect
- Sexual Assault
- Physical Abuse
- Child Endangerment
- Indecency with a Child
- Abandoning or Neglecting a Child
- Injury to a Child
- Sexual Performance of a Child
- Criminal Solicitation of a Minor
Cases referred to the Child Abuse Detail are assigned to an Investigator who will contact the complainant to schedule any appointments or interviews necessary to conduct the criminal investigation.
