REGISTERED NURSE (RN) 

JOB DESCRIPTION

HOURS: Various shifts / 40 Hours Per Week

SALARY: $ 28.44 Per Hour
 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1) Must be at least 18 years old.

2) Must be willing to accept any assignment or shift.

3) You must be currently licensed to perform CPR.

4) You must have at least an Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or University.

5) You must be currently licensed by the state of Texas to practice as a Registered Nurse.

6) Your vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

7) You must be legally entitled to reside and work in the U.S. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Renders general nursing care to patients in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Assigned delegated responsibility. Exercises varying levels of professional discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instruction. Has access to confidential information. Functions as shift supervisor, who directs controls and coordinates all clinical activity on assigned shift in compliance with policies and procedures. Maintains assignment schedule of medical personnel to include timekeeping functions. Performs physical assessments of patients, updates medical charts, administers medications, assists physicians in examinations, performs basic medical treatments, and screens incoming patients. Instructs and trains personnel in medical procedures, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Maintains area so it is safe, clean and well stocked. Enforces infection control procedures. Evaluates medical care provided to patients.

Compiles data and submits reports as required. Complies with all civil service, departmental, bureau and division rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: Standing, Bending, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Transporting supplies, Walking for extended periods of time, Occasionally lifts and carries items which may weigh up to 50 pounds, Lifting crates of medical charts, supplies, ect. Reports to designated supervisor. Entry level salary for this position (Registered Nurse) is $28.44 an hour. LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE (LVN)

JOB DESCRIPTION

HOURS: Various shifts / 40 Hours Per Week
SALARY: $ 21.39 Per Hour
 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1) Must be at least 18 years old.

2) Must be willing to accept any assignment or shift.

3) You must be currently licensed to perform CPR.

4) You must have successful completed training as a Licensed Vocational Nurse from an accredited facility.

5) You must be currently licensed by the state of Texas to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

6) You can not have ever been convicted of a felony (this includes “Deferred Adjudication & Probation”).

7) Your vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

8) You must be legally entitled to reside and work in the U.S. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs various patient care activities including treatment, medication and accommodative services. Assigned delegated responsibility. Exercises little discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instruction. Has access to confidential information. Performs physical assessments of patients. Screens incoming patients, assists physicians in examinations, and performs basic medical treatment under supervision. Maintains medical area safety, cleanliness and stocking of required supplies. Observes and charts vital signs of patients. Administers and charts medications and treatments as prescribed. Processes and posts completed laboratory and x-ray requisitions and results. Processes sick call requests for medical treatment. Complies with all Civil Service, Departmental, Bureau, and division rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: Standing, Bending, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Transporting supplies, Walking for extended periods of time, Occasionally lifts and carries items which may weigh up to 50 pounds, Lifting crates of medical charts, supplies, etc. Reports to designated supervisor. MEDICAL WARD ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

HOURS: Various shifts / 40 Hours Per Week
 

SALARY: $ 11.18 Per Hour
 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1) Must be at least 18 years old.

2) Must be willing to accept any assignment or shift.

3) Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., or 12 college credit hours with a grade of C or better.

4) Must have successfully completed a Medical Assistant program from an accredited facility.

5) Must hold a current National Certificate as a Medical Assistant.

6) You can not have ever been convicted of a felony (this includes “Deferred Adjudication & Probation”).

7) Your vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

8) You must be legally entitled to reside and work in the U.S..

 

Job Summary:

Performs patient care activities by assisting physicians and nurses within scope of practice of medical ward assistants. Assigned delegated responsibility. Exercises little discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instruction. Has access to confidential information.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Takes and documents patients vital signs in his/her medical record. Collects specimens to include obtaining, labeling, and prepare them for laboratory processing, i.e., phlebotomy, urine, sputum, stool, throat, wound cultures. Performs urine pregnancy tests. Verifies patient appointments and attendance. Prepares patients to be evaluated by physicians and calls for patients not seen due to court appearances, etc. Assists physicians and nurses as necessary during examinations and treatments. Completes and records treatments including but not limited to blood pressure monitoring, dressing changes, application of ace bandages, EKG’s, application of cold packs, intake/output, weights, suture removals as ordered by physician. Orders bulk supplies; restocks cart and exam tables, as necessary; maintains supplies of ice packs. Escorts patients to and from examination room. Performs dipstick UA’s and occult blood testing on stools and prepares urine specimens for microscopic examination. Performs monitoring capillary glucose. Answers call for assistance from housing locations. Assists in emergencies within scope of practice of medical assistants. Arrives at assigned area 15 minutes prior to shift to receive report of patients. Actively participates in the health care team approach. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitations and obstructed airway management. Provides clerical assistance in Radiology, Cardiology, Dental, and Laboratory Departments as necessary. Charts observations, symptoms, and procedures. Positions and turns patients. Assists with activities of daily living. Performs clerical duties to include, but not limited to; answering the telephone, taking messages, scheduling appointments, filing, faxing, photocopying. Complies with all Civil Service, Departmental, Bureau, and division rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. Reports to designated supervisor. Entry level salary for this position (Medical Ward Assistant) is $11.18 an hour. PHARMACIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

HOURS: Various shifts / 40 Hours Per Week
 

SALARY: $ 34.73 Per Hour
 

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1) Must be at least 18 years old.

2) Must be willing to accept any assignment or shift.

3) Must have graduated from an accredited pharmacy degree program approved by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

4) Your Pharmacist license/registration must be current in the State of Texas and without restrictions.

5) Your vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

6) You must be legally entitled to reside and work in the U.S..

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible to the Director of Pharmacy.

Supervises pharmacy technicians and clerks working in said pharmacy. Accepts responsibility for any delegated act performed by pharmacy technicians under his/her supervision.

Receives, interprets, and evaluates prescription orders. Orders, administers, and accounts for pharmaceutical materials. Provides acts or services of pharmaceutical care. Assists the pharmacist-in-charge in meeting his/her legal responsibilities and in ordering, administering, and accounting for pharmaceutical materials. Complies with all state and Federal laws or rules governing the practice of pharmacy. Knowledge of pharmacy principles, practices, and procedures within the State of Texas and within correctional health care facilities. Understanding of legal aspects of pharmacy practice within the State of Texas. Ensures that drugs are prepared for distribution safely and accurately as prescribed. Provides those acts or services necessary to provide pharmaceutical care.

Participates in drug selection as authorized by law, drug administration, and drug regimen review. Accepts responsibility for distributing drugs pursuant to medication orders, compounding and labeling of drugs, proper and safe storage of drugs, and maintaining proper records for drugs. Complies with all civil service, departmental, and bureau rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary. Reports to designated supervisor. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to, standing, bending, walking for extended periods of time, lifting, and transporting supplies. Occasionally lifts and carries items which may weigh up to 150 pounds. Ability to push, pull, or lift crates of medical charts, supplies, etc.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Good physical, mental and emotional health. Evidence of complete physical examination including documentation of the absence of active tuberculosis within the past year. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours and/or shifts. Job duties may result in possible exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Visual acuity must fall within Texas Driver’s License requirements. Able to comprehend verbal, written, and electronic communications; able to articulate verbal, written, and electronic communications where others can comprehend.
